An Open Letter To My Husband

April 6, 2017CoachVickyLeave a comment

Happy Birthday a day early, Richard.

I did not know if I would be around for this birthday when I heard the news of the cancer.  I remain unsure how long I have on the planet.

Most people are unsure how long they have on the planet.  I believe the difference is that once facing a disease like cancer a person becomes aware of the uncertainty of life expectancy.

I like your attitude about life, Richard.  You often say, “I am choosing to live forever and so far it has been working.”

As I reflect from April 7, 2016 to April 7, 2017, we were in the middle of renovations at 128 Clubhouse Lane getting that home ready for the market.  The biggest hiccup was WOW Internet failing to show up for a scheduled service. Life sure has changed.

I am grateful that it was you to walk this journey with me.  God gave me an A-Lister when you came into my life.  I got the handsome guy who can dance, is funny, is quick witted, is smart, and serves God.

I am terribly sorry this journey happened to us.  However, I am deeply grateful for what I have learned from you on this journey.  Those are learnings like the following:

Being studied and knowledgeable about a new subject can be mastered.

Holding hands is even more important.

All kisses can be longer.

Time is a precious commodity.

Work can wait.

Attitude and belief are the two most important prescriptions for a healthy outcome.

That part of about “in sickness and in health,” you not only meant it when you made your vow, you also live it every day.

I love you, Richard.  Happy Birthday!
