The champagne with strawberries flowed at home last night.
Monday, 5 December, was the last round of the chemotherapy drugs.
This means:
What hair I have lost will start to re-grow more than it already has. Even with chemo, I had new hair growth.
No more wearing -550 Fahrenheit Gel Caps for three plus hours.
Richard can cease the Sunday night grocery store runs for dry ice.
Richard can cease hauling in ice chests to the Clearview Cancer Institute.
This truly was a celebration time. Although there are 12 rounds every three weeks of Herceptin, the hardest part is over.
We have come a long way on a very successful journey since early June. In six short months, we have met every challenge with a lot of tears and a positive attitude. Armed with research and knowledge, we have taken control of what could have torn us apart and instead brought us closer together.
Leaders … isn’t this much like work life? Your teams work hard and are successful. Then what happens? Do you move on to the next project achieving under budget and ahead of schedule?
Or … do you stop to celebrate? Do you make memories with your people for their successes?
